# Agent skills

> SKILL.md files that teach Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and OpenCode when to call morph.

A skill is a `SKILL.md` the agent loads when its description matches the task. Morph's skills wrap the [morph CLI](https://docs.morphllm.com/cli.md): the agent pays no prompt tokens until it needs search or an edit, and the same files work in every agent with a shell.

```bash Terminal theme={null}
morph install              # every detected agent
morph install --agent claude
morph skills show          # list; `morph skills show explore` prints one
morph skills update        # re-download changed skills
```

Skills are stored once in `~/.agents/skills/<name>/` and symlinked into `~/.claude/skills`, `~/.codex/skills`, `~/.cursor/skills`, and `~/.config/opencode/skills`.

| Skill | Agent uses it when | Runs |
| - | - | - |
| `explore` | Mapping unfamiliar code: "how does X work", "where is Y" | 2-3 parallel `morph search` calls |
| `feature-research` | Before a multi-module feature, to match existing patterns | `morph search` per feature shape |
| `code-research` | Questions about an open-source repo | `morph search --github owner/repo` |
| `fast-apply` | Many edits in one file, large files, refactors | `morph apply` with `// ... existing code ...` |
| `morph-cli` | Any other morph command (keys, models, compact, chat) | Reference for the whole CLI |
| `morph-migrate` | Moving an app's LLM calls onto a Morph open model | OpenAI-compatible config changes |

## Discovery index

Other installers can read the same bundle. The index follows agent-skills discovery 0.2.0:

```bash theme={null}
curl -s https://www.morphllm.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json
curl -s https://www.morphllm.com/.well-known/agent-skills/explore/SKILL.md
```

Each entry carries a `sha256:` digest; `morph skills install` verifies downloads against it.
